Using the same blue from the existing Minnesota flag, a single white star is centered near the top of the flag. This is to pay homage to the state’s nickname, “The north star state”.
I wanted the flag to be monochromatic for simplicity, as well as to show clear contrast of colors. The state’s “Minnesota Blue” references both the sky and waters.
I used white for the star rather than yellow to help distinguish from similar color schemes (Sweden|European Union), as well as to tie it to our national flag; This is also carried on by using the 5-pointed star.
