The ‘Star of the North’ Flag is a flag that meets all of the requirements of a good flag, as put forth by the North American Vexillological Association:
- Keep It Simple.
- Use Meaningful Symbolism.
- Use 2 or 3 Basic Colors.
- No Lettering or Seals.
- Be Distinctive or Be Related.
Unique among the 50 state flags, Star of the North represents Minnesota as what it truly is: The Jewel of the Midwest. With the North Star front and center, it serves as a guiding light for future generations of Minnesotans, steadfast and forward. Gold, blue and white being distinctive among its peers, and representative of the resources and landscapes Minnesota has to offer the country. Taking inspiration from previous efforts to provide a better flag that Minnesota and Minnesotans deserve.
